VISION<\/strong>
Nadère Arts Vivants (NAV) is a Montréal-based live arts company whose practice is anchored in artistic and geographical nomadism. NAV nurtures research-creation processes through artistic projects centred on cooperation.<\/p>\n

The word \"nadère\"stems from “nader,” which means \"snake\" in Cornish, a formerly extinct Celtic language that has recently been revived. For us, the snake embodies movement, the process of regeneration, and creative force.<\/p>\n

VALUES<\/strong>
Listening is Nadère Arts Vivants' core value.<\/p>\n

Listening lies at the heart of the company's creative processes (listening to bodies, co-presence of performers). The act of listening underpins both NAV’s working relationships (consideration, looking closely to ethics of care), and the types of experience it seeks to offer to audiences (immersion with performers, invitation to introspection).<\/p>\n

MISSION<\/strong>
Nadère Arts Vivants fosters creative projects both in its home base of Québec and internationally, exploring links between land-based and bodily territories.<\/p>\n

Under the artistic direction Andréane Leclerc, Nadère Arts Vivants favors transdisciplinar processes. The company creates works for diverse audiences across multiple forms.<\/p><\/div>

HISTORY<\/strong>
Following a first career as a classical contortionist, Andréane Leclerc created her first pieces in 2006 for various<\/p>\n

The interdisciplinary company Nadère arts vivants was created in 2013 to support Andréane Leclerc's artistic vision by placing fundamental research into new body practices at the heart of its mission.<\/p>\n

Since then, Andréane's work has been presented on five continents, including Tokyo, Yerevan, Cairo, Florence, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Paris, New York, Guadalajara, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Rouyn Noranda, Montréal-Tio'tia:ke-Mooniyang, to name but a few.<\/p>\n

There are 6 works in the repertoire: the site-specific performance Di(x)parue (2009, the short piece Mange-Moi (2013), the interdisciplinary solo Cherepaka (2014), the large-scale piece The Whore of Babylon featuring The Tiger Lillies (2015), the co-creation with Dany Desjardins Sang Bleu (2018), and the most recent transdisciplinary creation À l'Est de Nod which includes its first time, La forêt (2022). Since its premiere, more than 120 artists from Armenia, France, Mexico, Argentina and Quebec (Montreal, Lanaudièreand Abitibi) have taken part in the creation and dissemination of this piece.<\/p>\n

In 2021, Andréane will perform with Yaelle Antoine during 72h Faire Salon, at La Grainerie, and will carry out the first exploration of Xx at the Université du Mirail in Toulouse. Andréane is currently creating Xx (2026).<\/p>\n

Andréane offers master classes in contortion and interdisciplinary scenic writing at Tio'tia:ke-Mooniyang and internationally. Since 2018, Nadère has also been developing a support programme for independent interdisciplinary artists. e (Morena Prat, Sonia Bustos), produced the local Montreal event of IETM-Multi Villes, an international network for contemporary arts (2020) and commissioned satellite works to the performances including, the album The Whore of Babylon featuring The Tiger Lillies (2020), the short film ALEDN by director Dominic Leclerc (2022), the photographic exhibition of ALEDN by Christian Leduc (2023). We are currently developing a publication with the Musée d'Art de Rouyn Noranda (2026).<\/p>\n

In 2021, Nadère will obtain its charitable number from the CRA. The Board has set up a governance and development committee and an ad hoc strategic planning committee. We are a member of La Machinerie, En Piste, RQD, DSR, REPAIRE and IETM.<\/p><\/div>
